Community Collaborations

Local community partners are involved in all phases of the Arctic Pacific Infrastructure for Sustaining Continuous Engineering and Science (Arctic PISCES) project—from program design to field deployment, and interpretation of the findings.

  • Ukpeaġvik Iñupiat Corporation Science - logistics support and infrastructure, community partnerships, and communications
  • Alaska Arctic Observatory and Knowledge Hub - partnering with community-based monitoring and ice trail mapping activities
  • North Slope Borough Department of Wildlife Management

  • Safety in mixed ice or open water conditions during spring transition season (April-July)
  • Ice stability and break-up prediction on timescales of hours to days to weeks
  • Guidance on locations of interest, types of data collected, communication of information derived from data and model
